Calendula Flower Extract


Traditionally tinctures and extracts of the florets were used topically to promote wound healing, and to reduce inflammation. Calendula is soothing, aids skin healing and possesses anti-inflammatory properties and is therefore an excellent skin remedy providing effective treatment for most minor skin problems.

Calendula originated in southern Europe, Mediterranean areas and parts of Asia. It is now cultivated all over the world. It blooms annually from June through to October, the flowers being a vivid yellow or orange with a 2- to 3-inch flowerhead. Calendula is known by a variety of common names such as marigold, pot marigold, gold bloom, golds and African Marigold.

The colourful petals are rich in flavonoids; naturally occurring compounds found in
vegetables and fruit, Other active ingredients include compound, such as triterpene
saponins & triterpene alcohols.
